Katalina Rose

It seems like forever ago that Alexis told me that she was pregnant with baby #2 and finally, she’s here! The day I met her when she was three days old I instantly fell in love and she may have officially given me baby fever. Eeeek! From the few times I’ve hung out with the precious little princess, she is just SO awesome. I mean she basically slept through the entire session, never cried and didn’t need a diaper change! And when we took her to the beach on that absolutely perfectly, gorgeous evening, she stayed sound a sleep!

I’m so excited to be part of this family’s life and watch this little lady grow up.

Congratulations to the Lake family! Katalina couldn’t have been blessed with better parents and a big brother! 🙂

The Boldt Family

We planned this little session on the beach in Oak Island to happen just before sunset, which would have been beautiful but a typical summertime thunderstorm was on it’s way so we had a slightly different background than expected. It actually ended up looking wicked really awesome! Once again, an overcast sky was great to work with but the DARK storm clouds rolling in made for some unique shots that I’ve never got before!

The Boldt family were awesome to work with! Their baby girl was just about to turn one and was such a lover of the beach she was so happy to be there, waving at everyone walking by and pointing at all the doggies. Even the ones flying in the air! (she called seagulls “doggies!”) TOO CUTE!!

The Maultsby Family

This photo session has been almost a year in the making. We tried a couple times back in the fall and it wouldn’t work out, but finally, on Mother’s Day it worked to get everyone in the family all together at the same time. I can’t say how it would have turned out if we did this back in the fall, but I LOVE these images of this amazing family! I met them at their vacation home on the ocean in Holden Beach at 8am on Mother’s Day, praying that the rain clouds that loomed over would stay away for at least the hour that we needed for the pictures! As all photographers know, cloudy, over-cast days are better for day-time photos and I think they added a little something to the background here. I loved their outfits! Not the traditional “family beach” pictures, just a certain scheme to follow and everyone wore their own outfit. Perfect! We did a whole variety of shots; whole family, Mom and dad and their children, grand kids, each couple, each parent with their child(ren)… It was the perfect morning and great way to start the special day for all the mothers there.

And bonus- the rain did hold off until I was on my way home!

The Mullis’ Gender Reveal!

When Anne contacted me about doing a gender reveal session she had all sorts of really cute ideas for ways to announce it! She wanted to be as unique as possible and not do all the cliche shots. This girl is right up my ally! I loved all of her suggestions and we brainstormed a little together, but she came up with this one idea that was perfect. They are beach-goers and lovers to the core so when she said they wanted to open a little bikini or a pair of board shorts to signify the gender I knew it was perfect! I had to remind her- just remember to take the outfit out of the box so we can see what they’re getting teary-eyed and ecstatic over!

We met at a private dock club they are members of in Wrightsville Beach. The dad-to-be’s mother was there along with their first born four-legged child Sebastian and her best friend came along as well. We are all so anxious and excited! Anne handed me the supplies that she bought for the reveal along with the sealed envelope holding the ultrasound that would change their world forever (in a good way, of course!).

I presented them with the box, everyone gathered at the end of the dock, and SURPRISE! Baby Mullis’ gender was revealed! Their reaction was priceless and I am so happy to have been able to be part of this for them! Look below to find out if they opened a bikini or board shorts!
