My first Coast Guard family in NC! The beauty of these pictures is that they were taken in the family’s neighborhood and backyard! The area offered a lot of variety for backgrounds and the weather was perfect! Well, aside from it still being extremely hot at 7:00pm. But I loved the lighting and the way it glowed off of Alex’s curly hair! PERFECT!

Abigail : 6 months old!
Ok, I lied. This was actually my last shoot on Cape Cod with a Coastie family! Abigail was a sweet little 6 month cutie who was such a trooper through this shoot! Her mom and I toted her all around Heritage Farms and Garden in Sandwich, changed her outfit multiple times and even endured a swarm of mosquitoes! I swear I had at least 20 bites on my body after our time in the woods!
But these pictures are worth it because they are Adorable!
Jackson
Again, here is baby boy part deux. The newborn images from a maternity session I did a while back. I love doing maternity sessions then being able to meet the little bean a few months later! Newborns melt my heart no matter how much they cry or don’t cooperate during our time. This was a good example of that! This session took nearly 4 hours! But I didn’t mind because I had company (our mutual friend tagged along) and the new daddy grilled us some tasty burgers for lunch!
As you’ll see, someone in this family is a big sports fan. MLB to be exact, as the majority of the props and themed shots are all Phillies! It’s no Red Sox but at least it’s not the Yankees! 😉 Here is Jackson!
Jessica & Isai : Plymouth, MA
Within seconds of walking into the gorgeous mansion on the Plymouth waterfront, I was greeted by a very large and very cheerful family. I knew then that I was going to have an excellent day; despite the mid 90 degrees and humidity. I’m pretty sure all the Virginians in attendance brought the heat with them.Â
I loved this family. You could tell their philosophy of Faith, Family and Friends was the reason they were so close-nit. The day got away from us, as wedding days usually do, and we missed out on some pictures before the ceremony began. But we made up for it afterwards! The bridal party was humungous and I had my work cut out for me but luckily they were all about having fun which is what I’m all about! We got some really great candids which personally, I love way more than posed portraits. Of course, as you’ll see, we got the typical “Bridesmaids” pictures from the movie cover of Bridesmaids. I wanted that shot for my wedding but I’ve actually never seen the movie so I didn’t think that was appropriate. This isn’t about me anyways.Â
Jessica and Isai, I had a lot of fun hanging out at your wedding and I wish you two the best! I also want to thank my mother Lani of Heritage Photography for second shooting with me. Some of these gorgeous images are hers!
Gabriel
This is my favorite newborn shoot thus far because not only was this little dude SO cute, but he actually stayed asleep for almost the whole time! He was so precious and little and awesome and perfect… there was a moment where I wanted to take him home with me! This shoot was also my favorite because the parents actually wanted to be in the pictures and I got some heart-warming shots of them with their new bundle of joy. They were open to all kinds of poses which was great because I was FINALLY able to get the “head on the hands” pose. Which actually isn’t a pose at all.
For those who don’t know, to get that kind of “pose” I actually have to edit two separate pictures and combine them into one. One picture is of the parents holding the baby’s head so I can have a picture of the arms. And the second picture is of them holding from below so I can have a head to use. It’s a little tricky and this was my very first time attempting this shot so I’m pretty proud of the way that it came out!
Erika & Brenton’s Wedding : Wilmington, NC
My very first wedding of the 2013 season was booked by my husband’s cousin and I couldn’t be happier. It gave me a great excuse to put my new camera and skills to use and I was so happy to be able to offer my services to this awesome couple! Oh, and I should give a shout-out to my husband who was my “assistant” and snagged a few shots as well!
The wedding was May 18 and it felt like July. Hot, humid, ring of curls in my hair, sweat dripping down my back, but nonetheless the day was so BEAUTIFUL! The groom, obviously handsome coming from my husband’s family, and the bride. The bride was the most stunning young lady I’ve seen. And SO down the Earth! I thought I was a chill bride – no sir, she was even more laid back! Issues that would normally trigger bridezilla she just rolled it off her shoulders. She was more concerned with marrying her best friend than anything else and that’s perfect in my eyes! May God bless you guys and your lives together!

Wolfe Maternity : Lincoln, RI
The beautiful pregnant lady in these pictures is the sister of another maternity shoot client that I had back in December. (Does that even make sense??) Must be awesome to be pregnant at the same time as your sister! This couple was so much fun to work with and their dog Grizzly became best friends with my dog, Bear! It’s like it was fate that I was supposed to photograph them because our dogs’ names fit perfectly! These parents are due just in time for Mother’s Day so we’ll find out in a few weeks whether it’s a girl or boy!
some exciting things are happening!
Happy Friday! For those with me on Cape Cod, nothing like waking up to 7 inches of snow in the spring time, eh? Personally, I love it because well, it’s what I’m used to but this is also my last winter/year living in Massachusetts/good ol’ New England for who knows how long. It’s like Mother Nature knows I’m leaving my homeland and is like, “hey, want to have an unforgettable last winter up north before you move down south?” Ahh, for those who don’t know (I’m sure there’s maybe one person somewhere out there who hasn’t heard the news yet) my husband received his new transfer orders with the Coast Guard and we are moving to Southport, NC where he will be stationed at CG Station Oak Island. I know what you’re thinking… SOUTHPORT!? TAKE PICTURES OF ALL THE PLACES DEPICTED IN SAFE HAVEN! 😉
As a Northern girl I’m a little nervous about the oppressive heat I’ve been warned about, the SNAKES everywhere, the plethora of bugs that will challenge my will to spend evenings outside, and the law that says I can’t take Bear along for car rides while running errands. But I’m looking forward to some great beaches, waterfront dining (and lots of it!), living in a new and different area, learning a new culture of our diverse country, SOUTHERN ACCENTS, a more laid back atmosphere, hopefully meeting many new clients for years to come and getting closer to my husband’s side of the family.
I’m going to miss the wonderful seasons, the snow, the idea that a white Christmas is a possibility, Colonial style homes, clam chowdah, fish n’ chips with northern Atlantic cod and haddock, being able to leave my car windows down all night, sleeping with the windows open, having beach and mountains just a couple hours from each other, hiking up mountains a few hours away, skiing, being able to understand everyone’s accents, great drivers in the snow and last but not least, my amazing clients whom I’ve met through this entire year and my dearest friends and family. I will miss you all so much but our home will always welcome visitors! I am officially taking reservations for vacations at our humble abode, 4 miles from the beach, palm trees included 🙂
On a slightly different note, k.ariel photography has joined the Square card reader family and can now accept debit/credit cards! Yay!
our street this morning at 7am. Yep. Gonna miss this!
Toy Maternity : Sandwich, MA
This Coastie couple are expecting their first child this spring; a baby boy to start their new journey as a family! We met at Dexter’s Grist Mill in Sandwich, MA on what was supposed to be a warm(ish), sunny day but turned out to be cloudy and very cold! But they didn’t let it bother them and they braved the entire shoot without jackets on while I shivered in my North Face! Here’s to warmer weather for when baby Jackson is born!
I’m trying out my new editing software that my husband bought me as a surprise gift so take a look at my “new look”!

Fitzpatrick part 2 – Breoghan’s cake smash
So here is part deux of that morning. After suffering an ear infection the week before this little cutie was ready for some cake action! Finally my first cake smash where the baby didn’t mind making a mess and double fisting the sugary sweet goodness. This cake was made by a local baker, also a coastie wife. If you’re in the Upper Cape area, check out The Graceful Baker! I was given a couple leftover cupcakes to bring home and… YUM!! Breoghan didn’t even mind sharing some with the whole family!
Check out her fun and wonderfully color coordinated set up for her first birthday! (Her mommy and daddy worked on it all and my gosh, I mean, it belongs on Pinterest!)
